Right now I have a dozen different RAW converters on my PC - crazy, I know. The key to the "being accustomed" part is that most of us are creatures of habit with regards to control layouts and what we've been used to seeing with our RAW conversions. Then of course there are the likes of Capture One, DXO Optics Pro, Photo Ninja, PT Photo Editor, Cyberlink's Photo Director, ACDsee Pro, and so many more.
Their control layout and GUI interface is so ingrained into our workflow that if often becomes difficult to accept something else. I'd venture to say that most on this and other forums have been accustomed to using products such as Lightroom and/or Photoshop ACR.
What I mean when I say "what you've become accustomed to," is that most of us have become accliminated to using a particular RAW converter - with many of us having used the same converter for a long time. If you like the workflow of ASP, take a look at Rawtherapee, much better output than ASP. The results are excellent, very fast especially if have openCL. I keep it up to date since I have a v3 license, but I won't be for v4 if it every comes. Processing is OK, but not good enough to compare with the competition.Updates are slow, some 9 month without any update.With 3.3, the crash a re lot less often, but they are still a regular occurrence. I started with Bibble v4, then v5 then it was Corel and things went down the hill very quickly. You didn't say which distribution, but a big thumb down. Wondering if anyone has any experience good or bad. Amazingly it has first class Linux support, and after only 3 hours of messing with LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and some weird symlinks, it works.
